When First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt visited Hingham, she was so taken by its New England charm that she called its Main Street the most beautiful one in America. We have to agree! Hingham is located in the Greater Boston metropolitan area on the South Shore of the U.S. state of Massachusetts in northern Plymouth County. At the 2020 census, the population was 24,284. Located on Boston Harbor, the town’s history is reflected in its many immaculately preserved homes in traditional New England styles. Hingham’s tree-lined streets, white clapboard colonial homes, and scenic harbor reflect the decidedly New England character of the town.

Those lucky enough to live here enjoy all the boating and yachting perks of its maritime history and the lush green farmlands give the town a rural feel. Hingham landmarks include The Old Ship Church built in 1861, recreational sites such as Wompatuck State Park with over 40 miles of trails, and The Trustees of Reservation’s World’s End waterfront park filled with tree-lined carriage paths designed by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. On warm summer days and nights, Hingham residents can be found enjoying the crystalline waters of its protected Hingham Bathing Beach on Boston Harbor.
